War Games US

North Korea has promised a “physical response” to American moves taken following the sinking of a South Korean warship in March. The sinking of the warship has been blamed on North Korea by both South Korea and the United States.

The comments were made by North Korea’s delegation spokesman at the South East Asian security forum held in Vietnam.

“It is a threat to the Korean peninsula and the region of Asia as a whole,” Reuters quoted Ri Tong-il as saying.

“And the DPRK’s [North Korea's] position is clear: there will be physical response to the threat imposed by the United States militarily.”

The US imposed a fresh round of sanctions on North Korea earlier this week and announced military exercises with South Korea to be held from Sunday as a sign of force. The military war games have received heavy criticism both from China as well as North Korea.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, also speaking at the ASEAN summit, accused North Korea of embarking on a “campaign of provocative, dangerous behavior.”

The forum attendees included delegates from the 10 member nations of ASEAN, as well as representatives from Europe, the US, China, Russia, Japan as well as other countries.

  1. Quite frankly I and much of the rest of the world am up to here (pointing to chin) with U.S. interventionism; their belligerency; goading, sabre-rattling .. and their black flag operations tailored to provide an excuse for more war and profits.

In this case as in others they have been unable to show evidence of North Korean complicity in the sinking that would stand up for two minutes in a court of law.

This is what is so scary about the U.S. Within a very short time, on each occasion, we discover that even their ‘covert’ black flag operations are amateurish. God help us.

The answer I received was this: “Humiliation can be a very powerful motivation for action and therefore I don’t hate the fact that we get humiliated every day provided it’s based on facts … if we feel we deserve to be treated like honourable citizens of the world, then we have to remove the source of that shame. There is no way round it.”
