During the month of March Swiss hotels saw a drop in their hotel occupancy, with 3.1 million stays, equal to a 14 per cent drop compared to the same month a year earlier.

Hotel in SwitzerlandSwitzerland’s Federal Statistics Office reported on Thursday that tourism from abroad a big drop of 19 per cent. With an especially high decrease from German tourist which booked 195,000 nights, equal to a 25 per cent drop compared to March 2008.

Taking into account the first quarter, demand for Swiss hotels dropped 9.6 per cent.
