
British Prime Minister will hold talks today with U.S. President Barach Obama at the White House in an attempt to convinvce the American President that the US needs to back his plan to reform international financial markets and clean up the debt-ridden banks.
Mr Brown will be the first European leader to meet President Obama as well as the fifth British prime minister to address Congress when he does so on Wednesday.
Another pressing issue which Brown intends to address is the fear of protectionism. Britain has invested billions to bail out banks and boost the country’s economy, while Obama has had a $787 billion economic stimulus bill passed in the United States.
Other topics on the agenda will be Iran, the ongoing war in Afghanistan as well as other issues such as global warming.
