Apples’s latest quarter earnings this week, revealead the loss of 1,600 full-time Apple Store employees.
According to an SEC filing, the company’s retail locations had 14,000 full-time employees at the end of the second quarter, a 1,600 drop from the previous quarter. While the company’s revenue grew more than 8% year over year, the average revenue per store decline 17%, falling to $5.9 million from $7.1 million in 2008.
So did Apple lay off 1,600 employees or not? There is speculation that Apple did let go 1,600 employees and not just shift workers to part-time status.
Recent earnings reports show Apple’s net profit was $1.21 billion, up from $1.05 billion a year earlier. Revenue was $8.16 billion, up 8.7 percent and beating Wall Street estimates of $7.96 billion.
