NY Daily News publishes somewhat of an odd article titled: “Now, it’s a crisis!”. I’m not sure if this is a joke, a lack of respect, or just an ironic way of getting an opinion across to the public. The article, written by David Hinckley starts off with a personal statements which I have a hard time understanding: “Okay, now I believe the fiscal crisis in America and the automotive crisis in Detroit is real. General Motors just laid off Tiger Woods.”

After that the article goes on to talking about those thousands of people who have lost their jobs or are on the verge of loosing their jobs and the serious impacts this will have on their personal [financial] lives. “Still, when we think of layoffs, or “downsizing,” we usually think of people for whom a lost job does mean anxiety about mortgage payments or grocery bills… They’re the people whose names we never know unless they’re family or friends. They’re the people buried somewhere in a number like “54,000,” which is how many jobs Citigroup has now said it needs to lose.”.

I’m curious to know if the author, had his true opinion about downsizing muzzled and thus had to intertwine it with a story about Tiger Woods. Pheraps David will read this blog and care to give his opinion. Or perhaps someone else from the media world could comment?
