The economic crisis has risen to the top of the list of security threats to the United States according to the intelligence chief’s latest assessment.
Dennis Blair said in a report to US congress on security on Thursday that the longer the economic recovery, the greater likelihood of “serious damage” to US strategic interests.
Blair also mentioned the growing concern over commitments in defense and humanitarian spending at home and abroad because of the economic crisis. Other concerns raised by the intelligence chief, were related to Al-Qaeda, Afghanistan, Pakistan, North Korea, Iraq and Iran.
